Any of you out there in the blogosphere horror movie fans? I've never been much of one, myself. I think it's because the bulk of horror movies seem to be nothing but gore or cheap jump-outs. That's not artistic, or impressive. Anyone can startle somebody by being really quiet and then really loud. Also, anyone can make somebody uncomfortable by showing gore and torture.
I've seen one or two horror movies that didn't do either of those things, and I thought they were amazing. Consistently spooky... haunting. Scare the crap out of you without being cheap and easy. Unfortunately, these seem to be the vast minority of horror movies these days. What do you guys think?
I stay away from most horror/scary movies since they're either boring or the plot can be figured out within 10 seconds of the beginning of the movie
ReplyDeleteI love horror movies. But its not because I want to be scared. Sometimes its to laugh at how silly it is. The funniest movies are ones that try to take itself seriously when being ridiculous. Other times its because I want the girl Im seeing it with to cling onto my arm, even if it means shes going to have kungfu grip.
ReplyDeleteAhahah your comics never fail to amuse me :)
ReplyDeleteHorror games such as Silent Hill is 10000 times scaryier than any horror movie.
ReplyDeleteHorror movies is sort of an out dated term. Most of them this days are just thrillers parading around with cheezy sound effects.
ReplyDeleteJust saw Insidious with my gal yesterday and I must say, I am still freaked out about it today. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't like horror movies, too scary.
ReplyDeletehaha, I love this pic, and horror movies are awesome, when they're high budget.
ReplyDeleteI love horror movies! But most of the new ones are american s*it

ReplyDeleteI want to know what 2 horror movies you are talking about...
i hate horror movies man they just aren't enjoyable. cool blog tho
ReplyDeleteI think The Ring and The Grudge were both pretty impressive - Japanese horror is always reliably intelligent and creative it seems
ReplyDeleteMost horror movies make me laugh. They are just so silly. However, I do like suspense films, like Psycho.
ReplyDeleteI hate when they do that!
ReplyDeleteI agree with hoaks2. Most horror movues are so silly they are unintentionally funny.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Traditional horror movies have become so cliche they're not even remotely scary for. I admit Paranormal Activity was somewhat good since it didn't have those single loud notes that warn you when something scary's about to happen, but even that movie didn't really scare me. Great post man!
ReplyDeleteHorror stuff is awesome, 1+ follower.
ReplyDeleteI agree totally! Well written
ReplyDeleteIt recently watched the most disturbing movie... it's called "A Serbian Film"... be forewarned... this will scar you...
ReplyDeleteI don't like horror... I like a little suspense and some gore maybe, but not the real horror stuff.
ReplyDeleteBehind the Mask is best horror ever.
ReplyDeleteI feel like video games tend to do better work of scaring me. Silent Hill, Amnesia, Fatal Frame are all great!
ReplyDeleteHorror is only fun with a bunch of female friends ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha...If I want to watch horror movie, I will ask my friend to accompany me.
